Metrorail Western Cape Regional Manager Mthuthuzeli Swartz has condemned the recent damages of trains in the past few days.

Three carriages were burnt in Parow on Monday another train was burnt last week, which is believed to be an act of arson.

Swartz said these incidents impact adversely on the region’s five point service improvement plan.

Swartz added that Metrorail will be embarking on the Service Improvement Plan which will focus on the redesign of certain services with attendant improvements to security and operational safety.

He added that in the quest to improve the service the company has had to make changes to the trains that are traveling from service in Malmersburry and Worcester to Cape Town, because those trains normally take about two hours on average.
