The Eastern Cape local government ministry on Monday said mop-up operations have started.

This follows heavy flooding over the weekend.

Three people died when a rondavel collapsed during floods in Tsolo.

Spokesman Mvusiwekhaya Sicwetsha said warmer weather that has been predicted for the rest of the week will make it easier for disaster management teams to do mop-up operations.

Sicwetsha has more explains that the MEC and the Mayor has visited the affected areas this morning and also all the places that people are being accommodated but the most important thing is that government  is working on consolidating the extent of the damage and further providing support to those that need it.
