Talks between Golden Arrow Bus Service employers and the South African Transport and Allied Workers Union deadlocked on Wednesday.

In order to try and resolve the dispute the two parties met at the Commission for Conciliation, Mediation and Arbitration, with no success.

Golden Arrow Spokesperson John Dammert explains that SATAWU and the transport omnibus workers union dropped their 18 percent wage demand to a 13 percent while the employers upped their 6.5 percent offer to an eight percent.

Dammert said that they unfortunately no resolution was met and talks was suspended.

Furthermore he added that it means that the strike continuous today and hopefully talks can resume again.

Meanwhile other modes of transport have been approached to join the strike.

Bus drivers are demanding an 18 percent wage increase, while employers upped their offer to eight percent.

Golden Arrow Spokesperson John Dammert said that they know that a call has been made to train drivers and long distance bus drivers to also join the strike, however no finality has been reached in that regard as yet.
