President Zuma visits Sunnyside Police Station unannounced

President Jacob Zuma on Friday visited the Sunnyside Police Station Pretoria.

Zuma said the efforts of the officials in fighting crime in the area are satisfactory.

Presidency Spokeperson Mc Maharaj said the President`s visit was unannounced, he wanted to inspect the facilities and also engage with some police officials about certain issues.

Maharaj said the President interacted with community members who had come to the station for various reasons and the police officers who were assisting them.

He added that President Zuma later received a briefing from Lt Colonel Bopape, standing in for the Station Commander and found that some of the most commonly reported incidents included: Theft of motor vehicles, using remote-controlled deactivating devices and House breaking.

Maharaj further said police management, officers and community members then thanked President Zuma for visiting their precinct and appealed for him to do more of the visits and to other police stations in the Tshwane Municipality.
