The South African Democratic Teachers Union is demanding that Minister Angie Motshekga and her director general Bobby Soobrayn to resign.

The Congress of South African Trade Union has called for school learners to stay away from school to join the nationwide strike on Wednesday.

Deputy General Secretary of Sadtu Nkosana Dolopi said they have applied and were granted permission from the local authorities; and had informed the office of the Presidency of their intention.

“Our march is legal, but we should not be bogged down to things of technical issues; the Department of Education must try to respond to the real issue” Dolopi added.
