The ANC in the Western Cape has welcomed the announcement by the Minister of Higher Education, Dr Blade Nzimande, of a training scheme for youth, in honour of Anene Booysen.

The Minister announced the R10 million project on Friday.

ANC`s Phillip Dexter said Anene's brutal rape and murder horrified the country.

Dexter said the provincial government has failed to do something about the residents of Bredasdorp, which has problems of crime and drug abuse.

Dexter said the ANC Provincial Chairperson Marius Fransman had visited the area early this year and called for interventions.
