WC sets new regulations to protect cyclists

Western Cape MEC of Transport and Public Works Robin Carlisle has announced new regulations to protect cyclists from motorists, and vice versa. 

MEC Carlisle said the new regulation would form part of the Western Cape Provincial Road Traffic Administration Act which was passed in December, which comes into effect on the 1st June.

The regulation has been drafted and is now out for public comment. 

Ministerial Spokesperson Sipheshile Dube said the regulations require that motorist to endure that they maintain a safe follow and passing distance.
