The African Christian Democratic Party in the Western Cape has called on MEC of Community Safety Dan Plato and Police Commissioner Arno Lamoer to launch a special team to investigate the murder of a police officer in Manenberg on Thursday night.

ACDP Provincial Leader Ferlon Christians said the community cannot be safe when police are being gunned down.

Christians asked the Provincial Commissioner together with the Community Safety MEC to get a special task team to investigate these acts of violence in the province.

He added that the spate of violence in the province needs urgent attention because even the police officers are being killed now. This comes after two off duty police officers were shot dead on Wednesday in Nyanga.
