The Democratic Alliance said the perpetrators who raped and murder 20-year-old Annemarie Beukes from Swellendam must be brought to book.

DA’s Ivan Meyer said the recent incident is yet another stark reminder that rape remains a harsh reality for all of us in South Africa.

Meyer added that perpetrators of this crime must not be allowed to get away with it.

Meanwhile the African Christian Democratic Party said justice needs to take its course and a strong message needs to be sent to rapists that their days are numbered.

Community members with any information have been urged to come forward with any information.

ACDP Western Cape Leader Ferlon Christians said ACDP is calling on the Justice Minister, Jeff Radebe, to speed up the process of reintroducing the sexual offences courts to combat sexual violence in our nation.
