The Western Cape MEC of Health, Theuns Botha, opened a new tomography unit at Tygerberg Hospital on Friday that signals an additional R6.1 million investment in cancer treatment for patients.

This is a process of gradually investing in advanced technology for cancer diagnosis and treatment.

Ministerial Spokesperson Helene Rossouw said the equipment is worth around R6 million.

Rossouw added that the teachers training centre will aid a lot in upgrading the diagnostic treatment of cancer treatment.
