The Western Cape Department of Education has embarked on the third and final stage roll-out of the textbook procurement process for 2014.

In a statement the WCED said it would like to ensure that textbook orders are placed timeously so that they can stock their schools with the required textbooks well before the start of the 2014 school year.

Ministerial Spokesperson Bronagh Casey said they have given textbooks for grades 1 to 3 and 10 in 2011 and then for grades 4 to 6 and 11 in 2012 and they have now begun the third and final stage of the plan which includes the textbooks for grade 7 to 9 and further textbooks for grade 12.

“We are very pleased with the success of this procurement process in the past and we would like to appeal to schools to take this process seriously, so that we can ensure that our schools receive their textbooks well before the end of this school year,” said Casey.
