The city ofCape Town together with the
Western Cape Government has launched a pilot project that will see School
Resource Officers being introduced to a selection of schools within the Cape
Town Metro.
The city of
Ministerial Spokesperson Bronagh Casey said
the SRO Pilot Project aims to build a safer school environment and safer
communities by having a dedicated person to coordinate and improve on existing
school safety initiatives.
Casey said the course also will ensure that
school resource offices maintain and understand current school safety issues
and trends from around the world.
“We are delighted to have benefited from
international best practice in this regard, and our SRO’s have completed two
trainings programmes by NASRO” Casey added.
