Media reports today revealed that the Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, Tina Joemat-Pettersson, is being investigation by the Special Investigations Unit and the Directorate for Priority Crimes for allegedly taking a kickback for arranging the sale of a farm.

It is alleged that the Minister closed the deal when she was still the MEC in the Northern Cape. The farm was reportedly bought for disadvantaged women.

The Democratic Alliance said Joemat-Pettersson received payment of R100 000 as a reward for her efforts in facilitating the purchase of a farm.

DA Member of Parliament Annette Steyn said according to the lawyer who helped facilitate the deal, the money was paid directly into her personal bank account.

Steyn further said Joemat-Pettersson is the ultimate Teflon Minister, she has hurtled from scandal to scandal without any real castigation. It is time for President Zuma to do the right thing and relieve her of her duties.
