About 60 people who say they are descendants of a Khoisan clan and who have occupied vacant flats in District Six say they will not move out.

The Department of Rural Development and Land Reform have obtained an interim high court order to evict people occupying the flats by Wednesday.

However the group says they want the case to go to court.

President of the South Africa Aboriginal Council of Churches of the 1st People, Bishop Gale Lawrence said when they moved into the house they knew that they would be taken to court, and that is what they had wanted.

“The Trust in no longer in charge of the process, yesterday the Trust vacated their offices and are no longer on the premises; so would a  trust that is legitimate have done that?” Bishop Lawrence added.
