Private sector partnership welcomed

The Energy Committee has welcomed government’s private sector partnership. 

Chairperson of the Committee Sisa Njikelana said such programmes are indeed applauded as they display seriousness to address the challenges of energy including exploring situations towards clean energy through a public private partnership.

 Njikelana said one can look at the partnership between Nissan South Africa and Eskom where they are look at a three year research project.

He added that obviously Eskom would be look at areas of its own demand to ensure how the introduction of electric vehicle can help to reduce demand in electricity.
