The South African Municipal Workers Union said it wants to alert its members and the general public of the attempts by the South African Local Government Association in handling negotiations concerning the Main Collective Agreement.

Samwu said these negotiations have been going on for almost a year.

Samwu’s General Secretary Walter Theledi said as a result of the failed negotiation process which was aimed at addressing some issues within the sector, the union will consult with the members to decide the way forward.

Theledi further said the members may embark a protest action depending on consultation with them, as the meeting will be held as soon as possible.
