The Western Cape Traffic Department held 24 roadblocks throughout the province on main and arterial routes.
1 275 vehicles were stopped, 657 drivers tested for alcohol, where 13 drunken drivers were arrested.
The highest level recorded was 1,04 mg/l.
WC Traffic Chief Kenny Africa said that the total amount of fines that was given was R115 400.
“We tested 20 446 cars for speed, and prosecuted 1 917 drivers for exceeding the speed limit.
“one driver was arrested for negligent and reckless driving, and another for the possession of dagga” Africa added.
