A man died after he was burnt beyond recognition in Du Noon near Milnerton.

During the fire suppression efforts the body of an unidentified adult male was found burnt, one other person escaped the ordeal without any injuries.

Disaster Risk Management Spokesperson Wilfred Solomon Johannes said the circumstances behind the occurrence, but authorities are probing an investigation.

“The body remains of the deceased person have been taken to the Salt River state mortuary to determine the cause of death” Solomons-Johannes.
Meanwhile on Sunday two children set their house alight while playing with matches in Macassar.

It is alleged that the two children, a two-year-old girl and her 17-year-old mentally disabled sister started the fire after their mother locked them in the house while she went to the shabeen.

Wilfred Solomon Johannes said that it was a regular occurrence for the woman to leave the children to go drinking.

Social workers are currently investigating into the matter.

“The mother could possibly face charges of child negligence, in terms of the Children’s Act” Solomons-Johannes added.
