OUTA: Sanral to explain reason for tolling delays

The Opposition to Urban Tolling Alliance has called on the South African National Road Agency Limited to explain the real reasons behind the e-toll delays.
Sanral’s initial date for the tolls was April 2011 but several delays including court cases have delayed the launch.
OUTA Chairperson Wayne Duvenage said there are far too many negative factors that weigh against the e-Toll decision when compared to the negligible gains that will come there from.
Duvenage also said that there is so much evidence that points in the favour of scrapping the etolls; and government’s intention is to press ahead as they have indicated that clearly.
“It is not going to get the support of society; it will have high levels of non-compliance, it’s going to force a wedge deeper between government and society which will not be good for your country” Duvenage added.
