One man died and the other injured in an accident

An accident on the M1 highway in Johannesburg has claimed the life of one person and another seriously injured. 

ER24 Spokesperson Vanessa Jackson said according to witnesses the vehicle appeared to have gone straight from the fast lane and swerved through traffic crashing through the barrier and rolled down the embankment. 

Jackson said one man was declared deceased on the scene while the other sustained injuries.

Jackson said the surviving patient was transported to Charlotte Maxeke hospital by ambulance. Paramedics and Fire Fighters carried the patient up the embankment to the waiting ambulance.

She added that the cause of the accident in not known at this stage and the police are investigating.
