R5 million worth of crystal meth recovered at OR Thambo International

The Hawks on Thursday retrieved drugs worth R5million at OR Tambo International Airport. 

Hawks spokesperson Paul Ramoloko said police stationed at the airport noticed a suitcase which had not been collected and preceded to search the bag. 

Ramoloko added that the luggage arrived on a flight from Abu Dhabi on board the United Arab Emirates national airline Etihad Airways. 

Ramoloko explains that the 20kg’s of crystal meth worth R5 million was recovered and no arrests has been made.

“We believe that this seizure will lead us to the arrest of the people involved in this matter,” added Ramoloko.
