The National Sea Rescue Institute in Plettenberg Bay volunteer sea rescue duty crew were activated following reports of a man on a boogie board being swept out to sea by rip currents at Lookout Beach on Monday afternoon.

NSRI Spokesperson Craig Lambinon said the NSRI Plettenberg Bay volunteer sea rescue duty crew launched the sea rescue craft Airlink Rescuer and NSRI rescue swimmers responded directly to the scene.

Lambinon said on arrival on-scene we found that a local surfer had successfully rescued the 46 year old Cape Town man who was not injured.

The man was released after it was found that he needed no medical assistance.
