A man died on the R33 truck crash in Pietemaritzburg

Paramedics rushed to an accident scene in Pietemaritzburg this morning, whereby the driver of the truck appears to have lost control of the vehicle and it rolled down a steep embankment.

Two men were crushed in the cabin of the truck when it rolled down and landed in its roof. 

The driver had already sustained injuries sadly he died on scene.

ER24 Spokesperson Vanessa Jackson They managed to gain access to the passenger of the truck and while they provided him with medical care, the Fire Department used the Jaws of Life to remove him from the wreckage.

Jackson added that The 22 year old patient was transported to Mediclinic Pietermaritzburg under Advanced Life support care by ambulance

“It is not clear what caused the accident but police are on the scene and they will be investigating,” Jackson said.
