Four suspects arrested in Chatsworth for illegal firearms

Members of the Chatsworth Cluster and Cavendish Mobile Team recovered four unlicensed firearms with ammunition and arrested four suspects in the Savannah Park and Shongweni Dam areas. 

Members were following information of unlicensed firearms in the Savannah Park area whereby a 24-year-old Somalia national, and in the Shongweni Dam area three suspects aged between 21 and 26 were arrested. 

Captain Thulani Zwane said the members arrested four suspects in the search in the area around Shongweni.

Zwane further said all these recovered firearms will be sent for ballistic testing to find out if whether they had been used in any criminal activities and one of the firearms that was recovered it has been established that it was taken during a robbery around Umhlali area in Balito.
