The South African Municipal Workers Union said its continued attempts to deal with racism group grievances at the City of Cape Town Municipality have proven to be unsuccessful.

This is after workers were told not attend a union meeting by Samwu because it will amount to gross insubordination, which in line with disciplinary procedure is a dismissible offence.

Samwu Spokesperson Tahir Sema said Samwu is calling on municipality to intervene on this matter and deal decisively with racism wherever it shows up.

Sema added that there will be a protests action on the 23rd of this month to call on the municipality to resolve the collective grievance and if they do not act on that there will be further action.
