The National Sea Rescue Institute responded to a report of two people aged 48 and 24-years-old who were finding difficulty in the storm seas between Struisbaai and Witsand.

The yacht that they were in was struggling because of the onshore gale force wind and 5 meter swells.  The boat that the two fisherman were on run out of fuel.

NSRI Spokesperson Craig Lambinon said when they arrived on scene they found the two were safe. The boat was put to an anchor near Witsand.

But the boat will only be brought to shore when the weather subsides and the skipper of the boat has decided to stay on the boat, the other crewman was taken off the boat.

Lambinon said the NSRI will continue to monitor the skippers progress.
