The Western Cape Department of Health has announced that controlled stocks of vaccine are now available in healthcare facilities across the province.
This follows the shortage of stock
of measles, hepatitis B and polio vaccines in the province in the past few
weeks.
MEC of Health Theuns Botha said he
had informed the National Department of Health about the impending shortage in
July this year but nothing came of it.
Ministerial Spokesperson Helene
Rossouw said limited stock of the vaccine has been rolled out to all
facilities. The situation should go back
to normal in October.
Rossouw added that parents can take
their children to get their vaccination and they will also receive catch-up
immunization.
