Black Sash concerned about illegal business practices affecting social grants

Black Sash on Monday said it is concerned about the continued erosion of government social grants by illegal business practices of the South African Social Services Agency contractors, Cash Paymaster Services.

It is alleged that micro lending industry are debiting bank accounts of grant beneficiaries.

Meanwhile Social Development Minister, Bathabile Dlamini said she is considering legal action against CPS.

Black Sash Spokesperson, Elroy Paulus said that this is the first public acknowledgement by government that things are seriously wrong.

Paulus added that government is aware of the desperate calls to the Black Sash plan, to the legal resources center to community advice offices across South Africa and of the evidence submitted to our community monitors through the community monitoring and advocacy program.
