The Democratic Alliance said it is angered at further revelations that Police Commissioner, Riah Phiyega has once again bungled a major appointment in the South African Police Service.

This is after Phiyega announced on Tuesday that Chris Ngcobo who is the Divisional Commissioner for Crime Intelligence has been placed on special leave pending a probe regarding his qualifications.

DA MP of Police, Dianne Kohler Barnard said that Ngcobo was appointed by the police commissioner following the suspension of Mdluli, who is facing charges of corruption and assault.

She added that this is the second appointment blunder.

Barnard concluded by saying that the main question is, did it take over a year for those processing his top secrete security clearance to discover this, or has it only now been conveniently revealed?
