Economists across the board have welcomed the mid-term budget review which was delivered by Finance Minister Pravin Gordhan on Wednesday.

Chief Economist of Efficient Group Dawie Roodt said although there is still a long way to go for the country’s economy to recover the mid term budget is a step in the right direction.

“The current trajectory of the economy is simply unsustainable we will have to make some very difficult choices and decision within a next year or two because after that it will be difficult to turn things around.

No big changes made by the Minister on Wednesday but we need to make some painfully decision. And I’m afraid these are the things we need strong political backing before we can make the sort of required announcements and decisions as far as the fiscal policy is concerned.” Roodt added
