Indian couple arrested for drug possession in Durban

Members of the Durban Organised Crime Unit and customs officials at King Shaka International Airport in KwaZulu-Natal intercepted a couple from India on Wednesday.

Police Spokesperson, Jay Naicker said when the couple’s luggage was searched they found 36 kilograms of crystal meth with a street value of R6.5 million.

They were immediately arrested for being in possession of drugs. 

Naicker said that in a follow up operation they arrested 36-year-old female in the point area in Durban as she was awaiting the delivery of the drugs.

He added that all three have been detained, pending charges of dealing in drugs and will be expected to appear in court soon.
