A 59 year-old man to appear in court for being in possession of illegal cigarettes

The police from KwaDukuza Cluster Task Team and Crime Intelligence have recovered 92 boxes of illicit cigarettes worth over R1.3 million during their operation in Malvern area, Durban.

Police Spokesperson Thulani Zwane said a 59 year old man was arrested and charged with possession of illicit cigarettes.

Zwane said the police received a tip-off about the counterfeit cigarettes at a house in Malvern.

“He is due to appear in the Pinetown Magistrate’s court on charges of being in possession of illicit cigarettes today.” Zwane added.
