The Department of International Relations and Cooperation has clarified what it deems a malicious report regarding the alleged withdrawal of academic honour for Deputy President Kgalema Motlanthe in China.

DIRCO Spokesperson Clayson Monyela said due to internal and diplomatic consultations which were not completed on time a postponement was issued by DIRCO.

Monyela said from realizing that internal and formal consultation were completed on time the DIRCO decided to postpone it and to say the Presidency has hand in this is not true.

Monyela added that the rumours are about the President that he had a hand in the withdrawal of the honour is baseless.
