A tragic combination of events led to a ten-year-old boy losing his life in the Gamalake area near Margate yesterday.

Netcare 911 Spokesperson Chris Botha said Reports indicate that the boy was caught in the flooding river and then washed into a storm water drain.

“The divers arrived on scene and they pulled the boy out from the storm drain and  paramedics tried over an hour to try and resuscitate him.

Tragically the young child was declared dead on scene” Botha added.
