A 9 year-old boy in critical condition after being struck by a car

ER24 paramedics have confirmed that a 9-year-old boy is in a critical condition this is after he was struck by a motorist late this afternoon. 

ER24 Spokesperson Christo Venter said when paramedics arrived at the scene the boy was trapped under the wreckage and the paramedics had to extricate him.

Venter said an ER24 Helicopter to be used to transport the boy to the Charlotte Maxeke Hospital for further medical care.

The cause to the collision is unknown and details of how the child ended up being struck on the stretch of open road will be investigated by police.
