The Democratic Nursing Organisation of South Africa said it is concerned about the shortage of health workers as the festive season is upon us and road deaths tend to increase.

Denosa Spokesperson Sibongiseni Delihlazo said more accidents on the roads mean that far too many people become critical in our facilities almost at the same time with few nurses and doctors to take care of them.

Delihlazo has urged South Africans to drive safely during these holidays because there is a shortage of healthcare professionals.

“Especially in the Eastern Cape at this time of the year many people are heading there and health facilities cannot manage with the amount of people needing medical care” Delihlazo added.
