The Department of Home Affairs said its ports of entry and boarder areas are well prepared to receive the influx of people and goods during this festive season.

The department said it is estimating about two million people will during these holidays travel through the land boarder posts.

Departmental Director General Mkuseli Apleni said in anticipation and as part of our overall plan to ensure efficient and effective delivery of service in all our ports of entry during the festive season, Minister of Home Affairs Naledi Pandor has announced the extension of hours and deployment of more immigration officials to a number of ports of entry across the country.

Apleni added that the extension of hours will be in Mpumalanga, Limpopo, Eastern Cape, Kwazulu-Natal, Free State and North West.
