An accident in Hammanskraal late last night left 20 people injured and one seriously.

It is believed that a taxi rolled on the N1 and passengers were ejected from the vehicle.

Netcare 911 Spokesperson Chris Botha said when they arrived they found an 18-month boy in a critical condition while 19 other people sustained serious injuries.

Botha added that they were all stabilized on scene; the child was airlifted to hospital while the other patients were transported by ambulances to various hospitals for further care.

The exact details of the cause of the accident and preceding events will remain the subject of a police investigation.
