The National Sea Rescue Institute in Bakoven rescued three spear fishermen after they got into difficulty in the off-shore of Cosy Bay on Thursday night.

It is believed that the boat of the three fishermen aged between 32 and 33-years-old was being swept away in strong off-shore winds and they were trying to swim towards rocks when they experienced difficulties.

NSRI Spokesperson Craig Lambinon said when NSRI volunteers arrived on scene they found the men trapped under rocks and appears that their boat was washed away by the off-shore wind.

“Three men were rescued one was taken to hospital suffering hypothermia and the other two were not injured.  Their equipment was also recovered” Lambinon added.
