The Hawks arrested a 46 year-old man at the OR Tambo International Airport on Monday with cocaine. It is alleged that the man is a South African and he was arrested on his way back from Dubai.

The man was charged with possession and dealing in drugs and he remains in police custody.

Hawks Spokesperson Paul Ramaloko said this man who is wheelchair bound was arrested after he landed at OR Tambo Airport.

Ramaloko said 18 packets of cocaine was confiscated from his bag and he is expected to appear in the Kempton Park Magistrate Court on Thursday, on charges of possession of drugs.

“We believe that the man is part of a bigger syndicate which are internationally linked and hopefully his arrest will lead us to other people involved in this syndicate” Ramaloko added.
