Head of the African Union Commission Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma on Thursday appointed a special Envoy for Women, Peace and Security Mrs Binta Diop to ensure the voices of women and the most vulnerable are heard much more clearer in the peace building and conflict resolution.

Dlamini-Zuma was speaking at the 22nd Assembly of the AU Heads of State and Government, with the crisis in South Sudan and the Central African Republic dominating talks.

“We have to work together to ensure that we have lasting peace and security in all countries in Africa this as part of our efforts to silence the guns in the continent,” Dlamini-Zuma added

Ms Binta Diop is the President of Femmes Africa Solidarite an independent body promoting the role of women in preventing, managing and resolving conflicts.
