Home Affairs Minister Naledi Pandor today said she will be publishing a draft regulation for the implementation of 2011 immigration amendment act for public comment on the 1st of February.
Pandor said her department is also
working hard in training new professional skilled immigration officers.
Pandor said the regulation will
propose a number of changes to our permit and visa system in South
Africa . Students will now be better served because
now they will receive a visa for duration of studying and not an annual visa
for studying in South Africa .
On the other hand Minister Pandor
said in March her department will start implementing the new births and deaths
regulations.
The Home Affairs Department has
started training officials to implement this new act which has improved
procedures for acquiring citizenship in South
Africa .
Minister Pandor said last year
permanent residents complained about delays in their finalization of their
applications. We established a backlogs
project in October 2012 and have successfully processed 25 000 backlogs of
applications and issued almost 19 000 permits.
