WCED says more learners enrolled in schools this year

The Western Cape Department of Education said its provisional figures show that the department has enrolled over 13 000 learners for 2014 compared to 2013. 

The WCED is currently busy capturing data and the final enrolment figures will be released soon. 

WCED Spokesperson Paddy Attwell said the department is currently processing data captured online by schools for our snap survey and the deadline for that was Tuesday this week. 

Attwell said schools had to capture details of every learner on the system by that date.  Now the department is double checking the data before submitting it to the Department of Basic Education.
