A man in his 50’s was last night killed when he was flung out of a bakkie on the R37 outside Lydenburg, Mpumalanga.

When paramedics arrived on the scene they found the man lying on the road with severe head injuries and he was declared dead on the scene.

ER24 Spokesperson Luyanda Majija said the man was sitting at the back of a bakkie which had no canopy when the driver apparently lost control and the bakkie went off the roadway. This resulted in six other occupants being ejected from the back of the bakkie and a man in his 40’s was found critically injured, he was stablised on scene and taken to hospital.

Majija said the rest of the occupants two of which were children below the age of 6-years-old were left with minor to moderate injuries and they were transported to the nearest hospital for further care.
