An investigation by Metrorail in the Western Cape is underway after a man was allegedly pushed from a moving train this morning.

The train was traveling between Mowbray and Rondebosch when the incident happen which has left the man in a critical condition in hospital.

Regional Manager Mthuthuzeli Swartz said incidents like this should not happen if people obey the rules of the train.

Swartz said we hope to find out from him exactly what had happened when he is stable, so that we can take precautionary measures to stem this kind of incident from happening again.

“We are calling upon all our commuters to always be vigilant and make sure they adhere to all safety precautions when they are traveling on trains and even when they are on the station to avoid areas they are not suppose to be in like crossing the lines at illegal crossing and to open doors when the train is in motion” Swarts added.
