A housing handover in Delft on Tuesday turned into chaos when disgruntled residents wearing ANC t-shirts demanded proper houses and not what they referred to as cardboard houses.

Western Cape Premier Helen Zille said the ANC once again hijacked a housing handover and turned into a party political rally.

Premier Zille together with MEC of Human Settlement Bonginkosi Madikizela and National Minister of Human Settlement Connie September handed over five specially designed houses that have been built to help reduce electricity usage.

Premier Spokesperson Zakhele Mbhele said ANC activist arrived and tried to disrupt the proceedings and the Minister September did not do anything to calm down the situation.
