Four suspects were arrested over the
weekend in Elliotdale near Mthatha.
This is after they were allegedly
involved in an attack on a group of people conducting exploration diving in the
area.
It is believed that four suspects
forced entry into a cottage where a 40 year-old was shot after he tried to get
the suspects to leave his house.
The man sustained gunshot wounds to
his upper body and later died in hospital.
Brigadier Marrinda Mills said the
police immediately arrested the suspect within 12 hours after the incident
occurred.
“We recovered most of the
stolen goods and we were shocked by the incident because we have not received
any crime reported in many years. It was an isolated incident but we
will step up our police visibility in that area,” Mills added.
