ER24 paramedics responded to an accident scene where by a man died. It is believed that his vehicle had collided head-on with a bus on the N3 southbound near Town Hill, Pietermaritzburg.

ER24 Spokesperson Werner Vermaak said according to bystanders, the vehicle was apparently travelling into oncoming traffic when it first partially collided with another light motor vehicle before colliding head-on with the bus.

Vermaak said it appears as if the bus dragged the vehicle for several metres before it came to a standstill.

"Paramedics found the driver of the vehicle with fatal injuries and he was declared dead on the scene,' said Vermaak.

He said two bus drivers and a hostess were treated for moderate injuries before being taken to hospital.

"All of the passengers in the bus were assessed by paramedics but were found not to have sustained any injuries," Vermaak added

The incident was handed over to the local authorities for further investigation.
