Motorcyclists in the Western Cape have been warned about transporting small children on the back of their motorbikes.

Western Cape MEC of Transport and Public Works Robin Carlisle said this was highly dangerous and is also in violation of the regulation of the National Roads Traffic Act.

Ministerial Spokesperson Siphesihle Dube said several incidents have shown that children have no supporting gear, no helmet protecting them from any danger.

He added that traffic authorities and the City of Cape Town will track these culprits down and arrest them.
