The Western Cape MEC of Health
Thenus Botha on Thursday made a visit to the chronic disease support group to
monitor the delivery of chronic medication parcels.
MEC Botha said the department has a
strategy to deliver medicine parcels to alternative sites and reduce the
patient numbers at health facilities.
Ministerial Spokesperson Helene
Rossouw said in order to reduce the number of patients at the clinic facilities
the department has decided to deliver medication to the doors of the patients
or at the clubs where they meet.
Rossouw added that these club
meetings they help the patients to talk about their different diseases and also
advise each other.
